| Obverse description | Central field features a rounded rectangular cartouche containing the Arabic legend in multiple lines, giving the ruler's name and title Ahmad Muddat Bey of Tunisia, the denomination 20 Francs, and the Hijri date 1348. Flanking the cartouche on the left and right are stylized palm and wheat branches in low relief. A finely beaded border runs around the entire coin, with a small ornamental device at the base of the cartouche. The overall design is rendered in a bold, formal Arabic calligraphic style characteristic of Tunisian Protectorate coinage of the period. |
