Above the plan, an elevation view of the villa's façade is depicted, flanked by the commemorative dates 1508 and 2008 marking the quincentenary of Palladio's birth. The inscription ANDREA PALLADIO arcs across the design completing the reverse legend.

Palladio's influence on Western architecture — particularly his direct line to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and the British Palladian movement — made him an obvious candidate. The Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato struck these in limited numbers primarily for collectors; virtually none entered circulation.
