| Beschrijving keerzijde | A right-facing portrait bust of Diana, Princess of Wales, rendered in moderate relief, dominates the central field. Her characteristic short, layered hairstyle and a necklace are visible. The circumferential legend PRINCESS DIANA . 1961 . IN MEMORIAM . 1997 encircles the portrait, divided by dot stops, commemorating her birth and death years. The entire design is framed by a beaded inner border and a reeded edge, consistent with the memorial character of the issue. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Liberia's Central Bank issued a flood of commemorative gold pieces throughout the 1990s targeting the collector market rather than circulation — this Diana issue appeared within months of her August 1997 death, part of a broader wave of memorial coins produced by multiple issuing authorities racing to meet demand. Liberia had no particular connection to the subject; the pieces were struck under contract and sold internationally through dealer networks.
At 1.24 g, the gold content is minimal — just under a tenth of a troy ounce — which places it firmly in the category of low-premium commemorative issues where collector sentiment, not bullion value, drove the original price point.
