Obverse description The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, sculpted by Dora de Pédery-Hunt, depicting the right-facing bust of the Queen as portrayed at approximately 64 years of age. The Queen is shown wearing the George IV State Diadem, a pearl necklace, and drop earrings. The peripheral legend reads ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA, with the date 2001 completing the inscription in the lower field. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine detail characteristic of the proof coinage series.
