| Reverse description | Three Spartan figures rendered in exceptional high relief against an intricately engraved background bearing the large inscription SPARTA. The central figure is a male Spartan warrior depicted frontally, wearing a Corinthian-style helmet and muscled cuirass, bearing a round hoplon shield partially decorated with gold gilding, and raising a spear diagonally across the field; his helmet is selectively gilded in gold.
