The Poseidon issue is part of Cook Islands' long-running collaboration with the European Mint, which has produced an enormous volume of high-relief collector silver under Cook Islands authority since the 2010s. Cook Islands itself has no meaningful domestic coin circulation; its numismatic program exists almost entirely for the export collector market, administered under licensing arrangements that keep production costs offshore while the island nation collects royalties.
At 93.3 grams, this piece contains three troy ounces of fine silver — a weight chosen to justify premium pricing rather than for any monetary or historical reason.
