The Vickers Canadian Vedette was a flying boat designed in the early 1920s and built in small numbers for the Royal Canadian Air Force, primarily used for photographic survey work over remote northern territory. It never saw combat. The 1994 Aviation series from the Royal Canadian Mint was the second of two multi-year programs commemorating Canadian aircraft, each coin paired with a matching sterling proof dollar and issued with a certificate — a format the Mint used to extract considerable collector premium through the decade.
