| Obverse description | Unadorned bare head effigy of King Christian IX facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and a full beard, occupying the majority of the field. The encircling legend reads CHRISTIAN IX KONGE AF DANMARK along the upper and left periphery, with the date below the truncation at the bottom of the coin. The portrait is engraved in a naturalistic academic style consistent with the work of engraver Harald Conradsen. A beaded border frames the entire design. |
