Obverse description The Mexican national arms occupy the central field, depicting an eagle displayed perched upon a cactus rising from a rocky outcrop amid water, devouring a serpent in its beak, its wings outstretched. A wreath of laurel and oak branches frames the base of the design. The silver fineness indicator '0.720' appears in the upper field flanking the eagle's head, and the circular legend 'ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS' runs along the upper periphery within a beaded border.

Reverse description The large denomination numeral '20' dominates the central field, with a Phrygian cap radiating sunbeams issuing from above, the central ray passing vertically through the numeral. The mint mark 'M' appears small beneath the numeral. The word 'CENTAVOS' is inscribed in a straight legend below the numeral, and the date is struck in the lower field. Oak and laurel branches flank the lower portion of the design, joined at the base by a ribbon bow, all within a beaded border.
