| Obverse description | The obverse features the crowned Polish White Eagle — the national emblem of Poland — displayed with wings spread, facing right, rendered in high relief at the centre of the field. The circular legend RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA arcs along the upper periphery. The date 2011 is divided and positioned at either side of the lower body of the eagle, flanked by decorative dot ornaments. Below the eagle, the denomination numeral 2 appears prominently in the lower field, with the currency abbreviation ZŁ inscribed to its left and ZŁ to its right, also flanked by dot ornaments. The mint mark MW of the Mint of Poland is incorporated into the design near the date. |

The "Polonia Warszawa" 2 Złote commemorates the Polish football club founded in 1911, issuing this coin on the centenary of that founding. Polonia Warszawa is one of the oldest clubs in Poland, though it has spent much of its modern history outside the top flight — a fact that makes a national bank commemorative feel slightly incongruous. The Nordic gold format, an aluminum-bronze alloy used across Poland's long-running municipal and cultural commemorative series, had by 2011 produced well over 500 distinct circulating collector pieces.
