Beschrijving voorzijde The Polish state eagle — a crowned, spread-winged white eagle with talons clasping a shield — occupies the central field, rendered in fine relief in the standard heraldic style used on Polish circulation coinage. Flanking the eagle's body at lower centre, the date is split in two parts reading '20' to the left and '10' to the right, separated by the eagle. The denomination '2' appears prominently in the lower field, flanked by the abbreviations 'ZŁ' and 'ZŁ' to either side. The circular legend 'RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA' arcs along the upper periphery, punctuated by decorative dot devices. The mint mark 'MW' of the Mint of Poland appears below the eagle.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a composite cityscape evoking Katowice's industrial and architectural heritage. To the left, the façade of a historic multi-storey tenement building is depicted in fine line engraving. At centre, a steel mine headframe — emblematic of Upper Silesia's coal-mining legacy — rises prominently against the field. To the right, the distinctive fan-shaped roof structure of the Spodek arena, an iconic modernist landmark of Katowice, is rendered in bold relief. The name 'KATOWICE' is inscribed in capital letters along the upper arc of the coin, serving as the principal legend. The composition skillfully juxtaposes the city's industrial past with its contemporary architectural identity.
