2 Zlotys Jeremi Przybora, Jerzy Wasowski

Przybora and Wasowski were the creative duo behind Kabaret Starszych Panów — "The Cabaret of Older Gentlemen" — a television program broadcast by Polish state television between 1958 and 1966 that became one of the most beloved cultural productions in postwar Polish history. Working within the constraints of a communist censorship apparatus, they managed to sustain a tone of gentle absurdist wit and literary sophistication that somehow passed the censors while communicating something entirely different to audiences. The show was revived briefly in the 1970s and again in the 1980s.

Wasowski died in 2001; this coin was issued a decade later, the year Przybora died at 91.
