Reverse description The reverse depicts a patriotic scene commemorating the 150th anniversary of the January Uprising of 1863. A standing female figure, rendered in period dress, places a traditional Polish four-cornered cap (rogatywka) upon the head of a kneeling insurgent, symbolizing the arming and blessing of fighters. In the background to the right, a standard-bearer raises a flag amid a group of figures, evoking the mobilization of the uprising. The composition fills the entire field in a pictorial, relief style reminiscent of 19th-century historical illustration. The legend 150. ROCZNICA POWSTANIA STYCZNIOWEGO curves along the upper periphery.
