| Beschrijving voorzijde | Draped and armored bust of King Frederik III with long flowing hair, facing right, contained within a beaded inner circle — the hair notably breaking into the inner ring as a distinctive type characteristic. The royal effigy is rendered in high relief in the baroque portrait style typical of mid-17th century Scandinavian coinage. A beaded border frames the outer edge of the coin. The encircling legend in Latin reads in Roman characters separated by pellets. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Frederik III came to power in Denmark-Norway in 1648 and used the 1660 coup — engineering the abolition of noble tax exemptions and the transfer of hereditary sovereignty to the crown — to consolidate absolute rule. The speciedaler coinage of the early 1660s was a direct instrument of that new authority, issued from the Christiania mint as Norway's financial infrastructure was being reorganized under the absolutist state.
The Type XIV designation distinguishes this variety by the positioning of the king's hair falling inside the inner ring, a detail that differentiates it from otherwise near-identical dies of the same year. Hede 44 is among the scarcer numbered types in the Frederik III speciedaler sequence.
