Beschrijving voorzijde Central field depicts a crowned rampant lion facing left, rendered in the bold relief characteristic of hammered coinage. The lion, a heraldic symbol of the Danish-Norwegian monarchy, is shown with forelegs raised and tail curled upward. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, separating it from the surrounding outer legend. The peripheral legend reads CHRISTIAN IIII D G DAN, abbreviated for Christianus IV Dei Gratia Daniae, identifying the issuing monarch. The flan is irregularly shaped, as typical of hammered issues of this period.

Opschrift voorzijde CHRISTIAN IIII D G DAN
(Translation: Christian IV King of Denmark, by the Grace of God)
Beschrijving keerzijde The central field carries the denomination inscription arranged in four lines: II / SKILI / NGDA / NSK, reading together as II SKILINGDANSK (2 Danish Skilling), all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The outer legend, separated by a second beaded ring, reads NOR·VAN·GOTO·REX·1648, completing the royal titles as King of Norway, of the Wends and the Goths, with the date 1648 incorporated into the legend. A small cross or mark of value punctuates the legend. The lettering is bold and deeply struck, consistent with the hammered technique employed at Kongsberg Mint during this period.
