| Obverse description | Large, high-relief bare-headed effigy of King Carl XV facing right, with naturalistically rendered wavy hair and a full beard, occupying the majority of the coin's field in the characteristic 'big head' variety. The truncation of the neck is positioned near the lower rim, beneath which appear the engraver's initials 'L.A.' for Lea Ahlborn.
