| 表面の説明 | At center, the national emblem of Saudi Arabia comprising two crossed swords beneath a date palm, all rendered in relief. The Hijri and Gregorian dual dates flank the emblem on either side. A bold Arabic royal legend curves along the upper periphery, identifying the reigning monarch, with a secondary legend along the lower periphery completing the royal title. The overall design is austere and heraldic in character, with the emblem occupying the central field. |

Issued under the FAO coinage program, which recruited national mints worldwide during the 1970s to produce low-denomination circulation pieces bearing agricultural themes as a form of soft development messaging. Saudi Arabia's participation was largely nominal — oil revenues had already transformed the kingdom's food import capacity far beyond the reach of smallholder farming programs the FAO coins were ostensibly meant to promote.
