| Additional information |
Jersey issued this coin to mark Queen Elizabeth II's visit to the island in 1989, continuing a long tradition of commemorating royal visits with circulating or near-circulating coinage. The Channel Islands, as Crown Dependencies rather than UK territory, have always maintained the right to issue their own coinage — a distinction that matters legally and administratively, though in practice the islands use British currency interchangeably with their own.
KM#76 was struck in the same specifications as the contemporary British two-pound commemorative series, allowing it to circulate alongside mainland issues without confusion.
