Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, after the portrait by Raphael David Maklouf, depicting the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl drop earring with a necklace, her hair dressed in curls. To the left of the effigy, the shield of Guernsey bearing three golden lions passant is shown in relief. The circumferential legend reads ELIZABETH II BAILIWICK OF GUERNSEY in raised Latin lettering.

Reverse description Central device depicting two doves facing one another, their wings spread and bills meeting to jointly hold a circular laurel wreath, symbolising peace and liberation. The engraver's initials JS appear in the field below the central motif. The commemorative dates 1945 and 1985 flank the upper legend GUERNSEY, separated by raised dots, marking the 40th anniversary of the Liberation of Guernsey from German occupation. The denomination TWO POUNDS is inscribed along the lower periphery, also flanked by raised dots.
