| 背面描述 | A detailed central depiction of the destroyer HMS Beagle (pennant number H30) sailing to the left on stylised waves, rendered in fine relief. The upper field bears the curved legend BAILIWICK OF JERSEY and the commemorative inscription H.M.S. BEAGLE LIBERATION 9 MAY, with the anniversary dates 1945–1985 prominently displayed across the centre of the design. The denomination TWO POUNDS appears in large letters along the lower rim, completing the composition. |

Issued to mark the 150th anniversary of HMS Beagle's famous second voyage, which ran from 1831 to 1836 and carried Charles Darwin to the Galápagos and beyond. Jersey had no particular connection to the voyage — the coin belongs to the wave of commemorative silver issues that Crown Dependencies aggressively marketed to collectors throughout the 1980s, largely as a revenue mechanism rather than from any historical stake in the subject.
The Beagle was a 10-gun brig-sloop of just 242 tons, considered undersized even by the standards of the day for a survey voyage of that duration and ambition.
