Obverse lettering CHARLES III · BAILIWICK OF JERSEY · TWO POUNDS · 2025
Reverse description The reverse depicts a dramatic panoramic scene commemorating the Great Fire of London of 1666, rendered in fine relief across the copper-nickel inner disc. The central design shows a skyline of the City of London with prominent Gothic church spires and densely packed timber-framed buildings engulfed by the conflagration, with stylised swirling flames and billowing smoke rendered in dynamic, expressive relief filling the upper field. In the lower foreground, figures in a rowing boat on the River Thames are shown fleeing the disaster, evoking eyewitness accounts recorded in Samuel Pepys's diary. The outer nickel brass ring carries the legend THE DIARY OF SAMUEL PEPYS arcing across the upper portion, with GREAT FIRE OF LONDON · 1666 completing the inscription along the lower arc, separated by raised dots.
