Aanvullende informatie

Pepys published the first volume of his diary entries in 1825 — nearly 160 years after he stopped writing them — when Richard Lord Braybrooke produced a heavily expurgated transcription from the original shorthand. The full, unexpurgated text wasn't decoded and published until the 1970s. Jersey's choice of Pepys is slightly oblique; he had no particular connection to the island, though his Naval Office work touched every corner of British maritime administration.
