| 背面描述 | The central copper-nickel field depicts a crowded Dunkirk evacuation vessel at sea, packed with British soldiers being rescued, flying the Union Flag from its mast, with the White Cliffs of Dover suggested in the background and a RAF aircraft flying overhead. The nickel brass ring carries the motto WE SHALL NEVER SURRENDER arching around the upper legend, while the lower arc bears the inscription 26TH MAY 1940 · DUNKIRK 85 · 4TH JUNE 1940, commemorating the 85th anniversary of Operation Dynamo. |

Issued to mark the 85th anniversary of the Dunkirk evacuation, this coin carries particular weight coming from Jersey. The island was occupied by German forces just weeks after Operation Dynamo concluded in early June 1940 — one of only two British jurisdictions to fall under Nazi control during the war. Jersey's population endured five years of occupation, making the evacuation's failure to extend to the Channel Islands a pointed historical irony that the issuing authority presumably did not overlook.
