Belmez is a small mining town in the Córdoba province of Andalusia, and like dozens of Spanish municipalities during the Civil War, its Popular Front committee issued emergency small-change notes when coinage vanished from circulation almost overnight after July 1936. The national Republican government formally authorized local emergency currency in late 1936, but many towns — Belmez almost certainly among them — had already been printing their own well before any official sanction arrived.
The Gari Mon reference is unassigned, which typically indicates the note wasn't catalogued from a confirmed surviving specimen at the time of compilation.
