Additional information

The Isle of Man gained full control over its own coinage in 1973 when the island's Tynwald parliament severed its currency link with the United Kingdom, ending a long arrangement under which Man simply used British coins. The Pobjoy Mint, rather than the Royal Mint, struck these early issues — a deliberate statement of independence that also opened the door to the island's notably varied wildlife coinage program.

The Schön double-reference reflects two distinct varieties within this date range, likely differing in edge treatment or die detail.
