Aanvullende informatie

Norodom I was not yet king when this series began — he was still crown prince, ruling as regent under Vietnamese and Siamese pressure while Cambodia's sovereignty was being negotiated between competing regional powers. The French protectorate wouldn't be formalized until 1863, meaning these coins circulated in a Cambodia that was effectively a contested buffer state. The Fuang denomination itself derives from the Siamese monetary system, reflecting Bangkok's deep administrative influence over the Cambodian court at Phnom Penh during this period.
