Obverse description Central design features a stylised oak tree (the Tunisian oak, symbol of the nation) rendered in relief, occupying the majority of the coin's field. The Arabic legend البنك المركزي التونسي (Central Bank of Tunisia) curves along the upper periphery, while the date 1960 appears in Western-Arabic numerals along the lower periphery beneath the tree. The overall design is clean and uncluttered, characteristic of the early post-independence Tunisian coinage series.
