Denomination numerals '2' and the word 'MARK' appear in each corner, with additional inscriptions running vertically along the left and right margins. Plassenburg castle, perched above Kulmbach in northern Bavaria, was repurposed early in the war as an officers' prisoner of war camp — Offizierslager, not a common enlisted facility. Officer prisoners were entitled by the Hague Conventions to certain privileges, including an internal scrip economy, which is why this note exists at all. Alexander Wiede of Chemnitz was a minor commercial printer with no particular numismatic pedigree; the work is functional rather than refined.
Campbell 3369 is not among the rarer Plassenburg pieces, but the camp series as a whole remains underrepresented in most collections outside Germany.
