| Opmerkingen |
Friedrichsfeld, near Wesel on the Lower Rhine, held tens of thousands of Allied prisoners during the First World War — at its peak one of the larger German PoW camps in the western theatre. Camp scrip of this type circulated exclusively within the camp economy, functioning as a controlled substitute for Reichsmark currency that prisoners were forbidden to hold. The prohibition had a practical logic: it prevented escape funding and black-market dealings with local civilians.
Denominations varied across German camp systems with no standardization between facilities. Friedrichsfeld issued its own series independently.
