| Obverse description | The stylized Three Towers of San Marino (Guaita, Cesta, and Montale) rise prominently in the right field, rendered in low relief against a textured background. To the left, the five interlocked Olympic rings appear in the centre of the field, with the legend XXII OLIMPIADE 1980 arranged above in three lines. Below the towers, the inscription REPUBBLICA DI SAN MARINO curves across the lower field, with the denomination L. 2 beneath it. The engraver's signature CROCETTI appears incuse along the lower rim. The overall design reflects a modernist artistic style characteristic of Venanzo Crocetti's medallic work. |
