| Aanvullende informatie |
Kosť Levytskyi led the West Ukrainian People's Republic as its sole Prime Minister during its brief existence in late 1918, a state that lasted barely nine months before being absorbed into conflict with Poland. The commemorative honors a figure who was simultaneously a lawyer, a politician, and one of the architects of Galician Ukrainian political identity during the late Habsburg period — a man whose career outlasted the republic he helped found.
Ukraine's bimetallic commemorative 2 hryvni series, launched in the mid-1990s, became one of the most prolific in post-Soviet numismatics, with this 2009 issue falling into its mature phase.
