Obverse description Irregular square klippe flan struck in silver as a siege necessity piece. The city name BREDÆ is inscribed in two lines within a central inner circle, accompanied by the Latin necessity legend NECESSITATIS ERGO and the date 1577. Four counter-stamps are applied in the corners of the flan: the denomination mark Z (for 2 Gulden), a hunting horn, a fleur-de-lis, and the civic arms of Breda. The overall execution is characteristic of emergency coinage, with an uneven, roughly cut planchet and rudimentary die work reflecting the constraints of wartime production.
Obverse script Latin

Reverse description The reverse is entirely plain and unadorned, presenting a flat, featureless silver surface consistent with the emergency klippe coinage produced during the siege of Breda in 1577. No legends, devices, or marks are present.
