| 正面描述 | The obverse features the bilingual legend 'BELGIQUE BELGIE' arranged in two lines across the upper field, flanked by olive sprays extending from the lower center. A five-pointed star appears at the top of the coin, centered above the inscription, serving as a decorative separator. The design is austere and heraldic in character, reflecting the wartime Allied Occupation issue context. The inner field is plain, with no central effigy, the entire composition oriented around the textual and foliate elements. A beaded border encircles the design. |

Struck in Philadelphia under a wartime arrangement between the Belgian government-in-exile and the United States Mint, this issue was produced in anticipation of the Allied liberation of Belgium. The .640 silver composition was a deliberate departure from the prewar standard — metal shortages and the practical demands of occupation coinage required compromise from the outset.
Coins arrived in Belgium in the weeks following the September 1944 liberation, intended to displace the Reichskreditkassen notes the Germans had used to extract Belgian resources since 1940.
