| Obverse description | The obverse depicts a detailed frontal view of the Basilica di San Marco in Venice, rendered with fine architectural precision in the nickel-brass centre. The facade of the basilica is shown in full elevation, with its characteristic five arched portals, ornate Gothic pinnacles, and five Byzantine domes rising prominently above the roofline. The inscription 'VENEZIA' curves along the upper border of the inner disc, while 'SAN MARCO' appears along the lower arc. The dual dates '1617' and '2017' flanking the Rome Mint mark 'R' are incused in the lower field, commemorating the 400th anniversary of the completion of the basilica's treasury.
