| Obverse description | The obverse features a three-quarter left-facing bust of the composer Giuseppe Verdi, rendered in a classical portrait style within the bimetallic inner disc. To the left of the effigy appears the monogram of the Italian Republic (RI), and to the right the mint mark R for the Rome Mint, both positioned above the commemorative dates 1813–2013 marking the bicentenary of Verdi's birth. In the exergue, the engraver's initials MCC and the inscription G. VERDI are incused. The outer ring carries the twelve stars of the European Union in raised relief. |
