| Obverse description | The obverse presents an allegorical composition symbolising the fertility of the Earth, centered on a semicircle representing the terrestrial globe from which a germinating seed fed by water rises. Above this central motif, a vine shoot, an olive branch, and a sheaf of wheat emerge from a tree trunk, evoking themes of nourishment and agriculture. The Expo Milano 2015 logo is prominently displayed in the lower field. An arched legend reading NUTRIRE IL PIANETA (Feed the Planet) runs above the composition, flanked by the designer's initials MGU to the left and the Italian Republic monogram RI along with the Rome Mint mark R to the right. The twelve stars of the European Union encircle the entire design along the inner ring. |
