| Obverse description | The central field features a depiction of Don Quixote de la Mancha, the literary hero of Miguel de Cervantes, shown in profile facing right, wearing a helmet and holding a lance upright, with two windmills rendered in the background. The design commemorates the 400th anniversary of the publication of Don Quixote. The country name legend ESPAÑA and the mint mark M flank the date 2005, inscribed in the lower portion of the inner disc.
