| Obverse description | The bimetallic centre features a dynamic high-relief depiction of two Carabinieri officers in full dress uniform, their cloaks billowing dramatically in the wind as they stride forward, rendered in a vigorous sculptural style by engraver Luciana De Simoni. The monogram 'IR' (Italian Republic) appears in the upper right field, while the founding and commemorative dates '1814' and '2014' flank the figures in the lower central field, marking the bicentenary of the corps. The legend 'CARABINIERI' arcs prominently along the lower rim of the inner disc. The mint mark 'R' (Rome) is visible at the top of the inner disc. The outer copper-nickel ring is decorated with the twelve stars of the European Union. |
