Reverse description The reverse presents two nimbed standing figures in high relief within a beaded inner circle: at left, Saint Peter, bearded and wearing pontifical robes, is shown kneeling or in a posture of reception, holding the keys of Heaven; at right, Christ stands in blessing, robed and with a cruciform halo, extending his right hand in a gesture of benediction toward Saint Peter. A flock of sheep appears in the lower exergual area, referencing the scriptural scene of the commission of Saint Peter. The surrounding Latin legend + PETRE PASCE OVES MEAS — 'Peter, feed my sheep' (John 21:17) — runs along the outer border with a cross as an initial mark.
