Obverse description Papal coat of arms within a double quadrilobate frame, flanked on either side by two standing angels acting as supporters. The shield is surmounted by the pontifical tiara and crossed keys, symbols of papal authority. The composition is rendered in a refined late-medieval Italian style, with the ornate frame providing a strong architectural border to the design. The circular legend naming the pontiff runs along the outer margin.
