This piece belongs to Perth Mint's ongoing licensed partnership with CBS Studios, which has produced a series of Star Trek-themed legal tender coins issued under the authority of Tuvalu. Worf, the Klingon Starfleet officer introduced in The Next Generation in 1987, appears here as part of that franchise series. The coins carry face value as Tuvaluan currency, though Tuvalu's own monetary authority has no meaningful role in their production — Perth Mint handles everything, and the "issuer" designation reflects a long-standing arrangement between Australia and its Pacific neighbor.
