| Reverse description | The bimetallic reverse pays tribute to Thomas Shingles' original Victory 5-cent coin design of 1945. Within the aluminium bronze centre, a large letter V for Victory is overlaid with a flaming torch and flanked symmetrically by maple leaves; the dual dates 1945 and 2020 appear in the field, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The outer nickel-plated steel ring bears two maple leaf motifs at the top within a line pattern, and the bilingual inscriptions VICTORY and VICTOIRE surrounded by encoded text in International Morse Code, rendering the phrases WE WIN WHEN WE WORK WILLINGLY and LA BONNE VOLONTÉ EST GAGE DE VICTOIRE. At the base of the ring, the paired inscriptions REMEMBER and SOUVENIR flank two latent-image security marks each depicting a maple leaf within a maple leaf. The designer's initials T.S. appear within the central design in acknowledgment of Thomas Shingles. |
