| Beschrijving voorzijde | The aluminum-bronze center features the fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, a diademed and draped bust facing right, as modeled by Dora de Pédery-Hunt. The nickel outer ring carries the circumscribed legend ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA along the upper arc, with the commemorative regnal date range 1952-2002 along the lower arc. A small maple leaf privy mark appears at the top of the ring, positioned between the opening words of the legend, serving as the Golden Jubilee commemorative device. The portrait is rendered in fine relief within the contrasting gold-toned center disc, creating a strong visual distinction between the two metallic components. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Canada's 2002 "toonie" was issued to mark Elizabeth II's 50th year on the throne — one of two jubilee coinages released that year, the other being a special cent. The Golden Jubilee reverse design replaced the standard polar bear for circulation issues dated 2002, making it the only year in the toonie's then-six-year history that the bear was set aside entirely for a commemorative reverse on the base circulation coin.
Hundreds of millions were struck across both the P and no-mintmark varieties, ensuring these saw genuine pocket change use rather than sitting in presentation folders.
