Reverse description The reverse presents a richly detailed antique-finished composition centered on a functional, gold-toned compass instrument with a freely rotating magnetized needle, encased within a transparent dome and framed by a gold-plated beaded and dashed bezel marked with the cardinal and intercardinal points N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW. Surrounding the compass is a panoramic tableau drawn in the style of a historic nautical cartouche, depicting Neptune wielding a trident at the upper center, mythological sea creatures including a kraken and a sea serpent, a mermaid, a classic tall-masted sailing vessel amid cresting waves, and a secondary bearded sea deity at lower left. The background is rendered as an aged navigational chart with rhumb lines and compass roses. The engraver's initials 'AH', the Perth Mint 'P' mintmark, and the inscription '2oz 999 SILVER' appear in the field to the left.
