| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Palau at center, depicting a seated figure of a traditional chief holding a trident, accompanied by a female figure, set against a quartered shield with a crescent moon and star above, all within an ornate cartouche. A traditional Palauan outrigger canoe with a paddler appears above the shield. Eight six-pointed stars flank the shield in the field. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU arcs along the upper rim, while the denomination 2$ is inscribed at the bottom of the field. The inscription RAINBOW'S END appears on a scroll at the base of the shield. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Palau has issued commemorative silver in volume since the 1990s, licensing historical and scientific subjects with little editorial restraint. This piece marks the 125th anniversary of the Benz Patent-Motorwagen, widely accepted as the first true gasoline-powered automobile — Karl Benz filed the German Imperial Patent No. 37435 on January 29, 1886. The actual first public drive was undertaken not by Karl but by his wife Bertha in August 1888, who took the vehicle 104 kilometers from Mannheim to Pforzheim without her husband's knowledge to prove its commercial viability.
