| Beschrijving voorzijde | Round cast bronze coin with a central square hole, as is characteristic of Chinese cash coinage. The four characters of the reign title inscription 熙寧重寶 (Xi Ning Zhong Bao) are arranged in regular script (楷書) in cruciform fashion around the square perforation, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left. The characters are rendered in bold, well-defined relief typical of Northern Song casting quality. The obverse field is flat and largely plain, framed by an inner square rim surrounding the hole and an outer circular rim. The coin exhibits a green patina consistent with aged bronze. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Plain reverse with a central square hole surrounded by a raised square inner rim and a raised circular outer rim, between which the field is smooth and uninscribed. A small raised dot is visible above the square hole, which serves as the identifying variety marker for this emission (Hartill 16.201). The surface displays an even green and blue-green patina across the entire reverse field, consistent with centuries of burial or oxidation. |
