| Obverse description | Bare head of Demeter facing left, her hair bound in a wreath of barley ears rendered in low relief. The facial features are modelled in a naturalistic Hellenistic style, with softly indicated eye, full cheek and chin. The hair is swept back from the forehead and gathered at the nape, consistent with late Classical iconographic conventions for the goddess of the grain. |
