| 正面描述 | The obverse features the coat of arms of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire centrally positioned in the field, depicting an elephant head above a green palm tree on a divided shield, framed by a rising sun at the top. The circular legend 'REPUBLIQUE DE COTE D'IVOIRE' runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination '1500 FRANCS CFA' is inscribed along the lower periphery. The design is rendered in high-relief proof finish against a mirror-polished field. |

The "Adler von Lübeck" was a merchant carrack built in Lübeck around 1566, notable primarily for its sheer size — reportedly one of the largest ships afloat in the Baltic at the time. It never saw the glory its backers anticipated; the vessel proved too unwieldy for practical trade and spent much of its existence as a prestige object rather than a working hull.
Its appearance on a BCEAO issue reflects the broader wave of small-format gold collector coins produced under West African franc authority in the late 2000s, targeting the European numismatic gift market rather than any domestic circulation purpose.
