Issued to mark Croatia's participation in the 1996 Atlanta Games — the country's second Olympics as an independent nation, having debuted in Barcelona in 1992 following the declaration of independence in 1991. Atlanta was the first Games where Croatian athletes competed under fully normalized international recognition, free of the transitional arrangements that had governed their Barcelona entry.
