| Obverse description | The obverse features a right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, diademed and draped, positioned to the left of center within an elaborate decorative composition. Flanking and overlapping the portrait is a large open wreath composed of intertwined oak and laurel branches rendered in high relief. The denomination '15 DOLLARS' appears prominently in the right field within the wreath, accompanied by the inscription 'Elizabeth II' below the portrait and the date '2012' to the lower right. Along the upper rim runs the legend 'MERENTIBUS.' and at the base 'NIUE ISLAND', with 'Fine Gold 1/4 OZ Au 999,9' inscribed in the lower field.
